Traditional climbing one of the highest peaks of Crimea - Chatyr-Dag is to be held May 15 in the framework of events dedicated to the 72th anniversary of the forced deportation of the Crimean Tatar people from their historic homeland, the Crimean Tatar activists reported on the official page of ÇATIRDAĞ SEFERİ in Vkontakte.

- Recently, the Crimean Tatar youth has started a tradition to climb the highest point of the mountain Chatyr-Dag. The last Sunday before May, 18 we climb the mountain top. Only after passing many kilometers through the forest, overcoming steep hills and descents, we are able to feel a small part of what our people suffered. This is an opportunity to feel the pain and difficulties our ancestors have come through. The ability to honor their memory, pray for them all together, reads the message.

The activists gather at 8.00 a.m. at Angarskyi Pass. On Eklizi-Burun, the western top of Chatyr-Dag, at an altitude of 1527 meters above sea level, the participants will conduct namaz and sing the national anthem of the Crimean Tatar people «Ant Etkenmen» ("I have sworn").

Crimean youth comes from all over the peninsula to pay tribute to the victims of the 1944 deportation. In 2015, the event was attended by up to 5 thousand people.
