Ukrainian Ombudswoman Lyudmyla Denisova appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross with an urgent request to assist by sending doctors to visit the Ukrainian political prisoner Volodymyr Balukh.
This is reported on the Lyudmyla Denisova`s Facebook page.
According to her, the state of health of Volodymyr Balukh is extremely critical. During a physical violence by the administration of the penitentiary, the Ukrainian political prisoner got numerous beatings in the area of liver, back and head.
“I appealed to the vice-president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Gilles Carbonnier, to assist urgently by sending doctors to visit Volodymyr. Now he vitally needs a qualified medical care. I hope that in the near future the International Committee of the Red Cross will send him independent medical personnel.”
Denisova noted that despite her appeals to Tatyana Moskalkova, the Russia`s Commissioner for Human Rights, Balukh is still not provided with medical assistance.
“Moskalkova did not react to my proposal to visit Kirill Vyshinsky at the same time my visit to Volodymyr Balukh.”
Reference, Volodymyr Balukh was sentenced to 5 years in a general-regime penal colony and fined with 10 thousand rubles (about 4 thousand hryvnia) in conjunction with two criminal cases: for allegedly beating the head of a temporary detention facility in Crimea and for illegal acquisition, sale and storage of weapons.
Earlier it was reported that the Kremlin-controlled "Supreme Court" of occupied Crimea postponed the appeal hearing of the defense of Volodymyr Balukh for an indefinite period. Volodymyr Balukh refused to take part in a court session by videoconference.
The spouse of Balukh, Natalia asked to help her family financially, since she is refused to be hired anywhere because her husband is a political prisoner.
