Internet providers in annexed Crimea block at least eight websites that are not on the official list of Roskomnadzor (the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media in Russia), reports the "Digital Security Lab".
Reportedly, this relates to the websites of several Ukrainian TV channels (1tv.com.ua, ictv.ua, novy.tv, stb.ua), Ukrainian news website gordonua.com, two Crimean news websites qha.com.ua and meridian.in.ua, as well as the website of the Ukrainian human rights organization krymsos.com.
“The fact that these websites indeed are blocked by providers, but not inaccessible due to error or other reasons, is indicated by the results of testing Internet locks and data analysis by using specialized software OONI (Open Observatory of Network Interference). When trying to access on each of these websites, at least one Crimean Internet provider issues a blocked page.”
It is noted that such results of technical analysis of Internet blockings in Crimea make it possible to assert that in Crimea exists an "additional non-public list of websites for blocking, which differs from the all-Russian list of Roskomnadzor."
It is reported that at least one Crimean provider had not access additionally to 23 web pages, but there is no technical evidence that it was blocked indeed. Among them are the websites of "Ukrayinska Pravda" (Ukrainian Truth), KrymRealii, InformNapalm, Crimean Human Rights Group, StopFake, KyivPride and others.
On August 2018, the Digital Security Laboratory together with the Crimean Human Rights Group conducted 46 tests in different places, access to which is provided by the following providers in Simferopol and Sevastopol cities: FarLine, RealWeb, Elite-Net, Giganet, Крэлком (crimea.com), Ланком and Севстар (sevstar.net). Totally 83 websites were checked including Ukrainian and Crimean news resources, as well as websites of human rights and public organizations.
Earlier it was reported that in annexed Crimea more websites were blocked, than it was known before, at the same time, mostly these are websites of Ukrainian TV channels and other resources reporting news from Ukraine.
