February 26 Ukraine marks the Day of Resistance to the Russian occupation in the Crimea.
On this day in 2014, outside the building of the Supreme Council of Crimea, a rally was held to preserve the territorial integrity of Ukraine and prevent the adoption of decisions aimed at destabilizing the situation in the autonomy by the parliament of the ARC.
About 15 thousand Crimean Tatars, Ukrainians and Crimea residents of other nationalities took part in the rally, organized by the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people. It was on February 26 that the civil society of Crimea advocated the territorial integrity of Ukraine, not allowing Russia and its agents in the Crimea to hold an extraordinary session of the parliament in order to simulate the allegedly voluntary "transfer" of Crimea to Russia.
Therefore, this day is rightfully considered the Day of Resistance to the Russian occupation in the Crimea.
Today, February 26, one of the main events dedicated to the beginning of resistance to the Russian occupation of Crimea, will be a rally on the Independence Square in Kyiv, organized by the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and a number of public and human rights organizations. A solidarity event will take place in support of those citizens of Ukraine who live in the conditions of Russian occupation in the Crimea
