March 13, at the administrative border with the Crimea, FSB officers detained two human rights activists from the Crimean Human Rights Group Olga Skripnik and Vladimir Chekrygin, as well as an employee of the Human Rights Commissioner Office of the Verkhovna Rada. Human rights activists went to the administrative border with the occupied Crimea in order to monitor the checkpoints from the Ukrainian side.

The activists were detained at the Russian-controlled check point and interrogated. The occupants fined all the detained according to 18.2 of the RF Code of Administrative Offences (violation of the border regime - Ed.), the journalist Anton Naumlyuk reported on Facebook.

Human rights defenders detained by the FSB were released and arrived in the territory controlled by Ukraine, according to the Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat of the Commissioner for Human Rights Bogdan Kriklivenko.

“Everything is fine now. All three are already at the Kalanchak checkpoint, this checkpoint is under the control of Ukrainian border guards.”

Earlier the international organization Freedom House claimed that the occupying Russian authorities use the special services to form a territory in the Crimea where there it would be impossible to protect basic human rights.
