The Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Akhtem Chiygoz, was unable to testify in the video feed  mode during regular session of the “court”, as the meeting was canceled. The lawyer Nikolai Polozov reported in Facebook about his meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis in the pretrial detention center on May, 18.

According to him, the sudden cancellation of the court session “for technical reasons” showed the cowardly essence of the system.

“That day, Akhem Chiyhoz was to give his testimony. Of course, they would not bring him to court, like to 115 previous court hearings. He was to give testimony in video feed mode. But they were frightened to do even this and so two prison trucks and many policemen were on duty near the court house.”

Polozov believes that peaceful struggle principles of the Crimean Tatar people for their rights annoy the Kremlin.

“Seems like the Kremlin does not understand what to do with a small, but patient and proud Crimean Tatar people. They have expelled leaders from the Crimea, and even bought over few collaborators, but it still does not work.”

Reference: Akhtem Chyigoz was detained in January 2015 in the Crimea, on accusations of organizing and participating in mass riots on February 26, 2014. Then, outside the building of the Supreme Council of Crimea, a rally was held in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. He has been detained for more than two years, awaiting sentencing. At the "court" he repeatedly stated that he does not admit his guilt and intends to fight to the end for the truth.

Earlier QHA reported, that at the previous meeting, one of the witnesses said that Ahtem Chiyhoz had not received any instructions from the Mejlis to participate in the organization of the rally on February 26, 2014 outside the building of the Supreme Council of Crimea.
