Because of the release of chemicals at the Crimean Titan plant, 59 people left the annexed Crimea to mainland Ukraine, according to Ivan Shevtsov, Head of the press service of the Kherson border detachment.
He informed, that the majority of the arrivals wish to receive treatment in Kherson medical institutions.
“As of 08:00, September 10, 59 citizens have already arrived to the mainland of Ukraine. Most of them stated their intention to apply to Kherson health care institutions in connection with deteriorating state of health.”
Shevtsov noted that at the moment, the checkpoints of the entrance and exit Kalanchak and Chaplinka operate in a limited mode - they only let to the mainland of Ukraine, and the Chongar checkpoint operates in regular mode.
It is further reported that during the past two days the Ukrainian border guards did not record pollution in the air, the situation remained stable.
In connection with the ecological situation in the Crimea, specialists recommend to adhere to several rules, such as washing vegetables and fruit with a soda solution, avoid grazing in places where harmful substances are likely to be deposited, and others.
On September 7, the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, People's Deputy of Ukraine Refat Chubarov, during a speech in the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada, said that the ecological disaster in the Crimea is aimed at destroying the indigenous people of the peninsula - the Crimean Tatars. According to him, the occupiers purposefully make the Crimea unsuitable for people to live.
