Ukrainian journalist and media expert Yuri Lukanov reminded the fate of defendants in "Ukrainian saboteurs case" Dmitry Shtyblikov and Aleksei Bessarabov during the OSCE conference "Media freedom in volatile environment" on June 20.

Lukanov suggested adding the names of the Crimeans to the list of injured journalists.

”The names of "Nomos" Sevastopol center analysts Dmitry Shtyblikov and Aleksey Bessarabov should be added to the list of well-known journalists persecuted by Russia. They are detained. Earlier these journalists were accused of calling for violation of Russia's territorial integrity, but now they are charged with terrorist activities. They can be sentenced to ten years or more,” Lukanov said.

Reference. The so-called "sabotage-terrorist group, working under the orders of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine" was detained by Russian FSB (Federal Security Service) officers in Sevastopol on November 9, 2016. The detained "Ukrainian saboteurs" were the experts of the "Nomos" analytical center Dmitry Shtyblikov and Aleksey Bessarabov, and the intelligence veteran Vladimir Dudka.

Later the RF FSB reported that two of the three citizens detained on November 9 had admitted that they were working for Ukrainian intelligence. In the published video Dmitry Shtyblikov said that he was a Colonel of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and that he collected intelligence information on deployment of Russian troops in Crimea and selected objects for sabotage.
