Today, May 18, in the occupied Crimea in the settlement Büyük Onlar (Oktyabrske) of the Krasnogvardeisky district a prayer service was held in memory of the victims of 1944 deportation of the Crimean Tatar people. The Head of the CEC of the Qurultai of the Crimean Tatar people Zair Smedlya reported on the event on his Facebook page.
The mournful meeting was held near the memorial sign to the Victims of Deportation.
Mourning services in memory of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people were held in other settlements of the Crimea as well.

The criminal actions of the Soviet government led to mass loss of life and irreparable damage to the Crimean Tatar people, the development of its culture, tragically influencing its historical path. Only on the way to the exile and in the first year after the deportation more than 30 thousand people died.
