Today, on September 24, the Kremlin-controlled "Supreme Court" of occupied Crimea considered an appeal of the defense of Ukrainian political prisoner Volodymyr Balukh. This was reported on the website of the Crimean Human Rights Group.
So, the meeting had an appointment at 15:00 pm.
The "Court" considered an appeal against the sentence of so-called "Razdolnensky District Court" from July 5, 2018, on the case of allegedly beating of the head of a temporary detention facility by Balukh
Reference, on July, the Russian-controlled Razdolnensky District Court sentenced the Ukrainian activist Volodymyr Balukh to 5 years in a general-regime penal colony and fined him with 10 thousand rubles (about 4 thousand hryvnia) in conjunction with two criminal cases: for allegedly beating the head of a temporary detention facility in Crimea and for illegal acquisition, sale and storage of weapons.
Thus, one of the cases against the activist was built due to the statement of the head of the temporary detention facility in the Razdolne village Valery Tkachenko, who claims that Balukh has beaten him. The activist himself and his defense say that it was Tkachenko who attacked him.
The journalist Natalia Kokorina stated that in case of refusing the complain on this "case", Balukh is to be send to the Russian colony. She noted that the Ukrainian political prisoner will not handle with it due to deterioration of his health because of a long hunger strike.
