The Russian troops in the occupied Crimea will protect the children's camp "Artek," Interfax reports citing the Deputy Director of the Federal Service of the National Guard troops of the Russian Federation Oleg Borukaev.

“We also deployed there a special unit to ensure security in the region,” he said.

Borukaev noted that about three thousand children are now in the camp and active construction is ongoing there.

In addition, according to him, the Russian National Guard is protecting the territory of the energy bridge construction, as well as Sevastopol research reactor.

On September 18, illegal elections to the State Duma were held in the occupied Crimea.

Most countries have refused to send observers to the elections in Crimea. The OSCE and the Venice Commission did not monitor the results of the voting in the occupied peninsula as well.

Ukraine strongly condemned the conduct of the Russian elections on its territory and called on other countries not to recognize the results, maintaining a policy of non-recognition of annexation.
