A rally in support of Nadezhda Savchenko, a Ukrainian pilot illegally held in captivity in Russia, has been staged outside the Russian Consulate in Odesa.

The activists brought the posters bearing a picture of Nadezhda Savchenko, metal barrels and an effigy of Vladimir Putin, "Hromadske. Odesa" posted on Facebook.

During the rally the protesters burned an effigy of Putin and pelted the gate of the Consulate with red paint.

The protest actions have been staged in support of a Ukrainian pilot, illegally held in captivity in Russia, outside the Russian Embassies and Consulates across Ukraine.

It was reported earlier by QHA that this morning, several hundred activists came to the Russian Embassy in Kyiv carrying the Ukrainian national flags and placards. A similar rally was held in Kharkiv where around 300 people gathered outside the building of the Russian Consulate located on Olminskogo Street.

Nadezhda Savchenko went on a "dry" hunger strike on March 3 after a judge of Russia’s Donetsk court prevented her from delivering the last word.
