In the first quarter of 2017, the number of citizens entering the occupied Crimea fell by 24%, the Press Secretary of the State Border Service of Ukraine Oleg Slobodyan reported on Facebook.
He noted that, at the same time, the number of all citizens crossing the administrative border increased by 27%.
“The statistics of traffic at the entry and exit check point on the demarcation line and on the administrative border with the temporarily occupied Crimea were summed up. Interestingly, in the first quarter of 2017, compared to the same period of the past year, the number of citizens on the entry and exit check point on the line of demarcation increased by 27%, and amount of transport - by 7%. At the same time, the trend is quite opposite at the control points towards the occupied peninsula: The number of citizens decreased by 24% and the number of vehicles decreased by half.”
Earlier, April 13, the State Border Service of Ukraine said that the FSB together with the border guards of the Russian Federation under the guise of checking the service of border and customs orders at Russian checkpoints periodically carries out provocations against Ukrainian citizens. Using administrative influence, pressure and threats, Russian officers force Ukrainians to transport the so-called training caches in the form of grenades and ammunition across the border.
