The situation with human rights in the occupied territories of Ukraine has deteriorated over the last year. The director of the Kharkiv Human Rights Group Yevgeny Zakharov made a corresponding statement in a comment to QHA correspondent.
Thus, in particular, the Russian Federation continues to intensify its pressure in the Crimea.
“We observe the attempts to dissolve the Crimean Tatars in mass of the population, to deprive them of ethnic and religious identity. Provocations are constantly occurring. Moreover, any pro-Ukrainian views in the Crimea are also impossible,” Zakharov said.
In the occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the economic situation has worsened.
"Products are expensive there, and in general, it is much more difficult to survive than in the territories controlled by Ukraine," the human rights activist said.
Zakharov notes that daily shelling is continuing in the "gray zone", and people are at risk of being killed or injured.
Previously, QHA reported that the situation with the observance of the rights of internally displaced persons has deteriorated in Ukraine.
