American writer Stephen King urged Russia to release Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov, who is unlawfully kept in prison of Russia, according to the message on his Twitter page on June 14.
King refers to a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin from the human rights organization of American writers PEN America with the request to release the Ukrainian filmmaker.
“Today is day 1 of the FIFAWorldCup and day 32 of Oleg Sentsov's hunger strike. Join me and penamerican in calling for the release of this Ukrainian filmmaker unjustly imprisoned in Russia. Time is running out, and he may die for his views #FreeSentsov," he wrote.

QHA reported that Oleg Sentsov is in the medical unit. Human rights activist Zoya Svetova noted that Sentsov's health condition causes concern, but doctors are monitoring him closely.
Oleg Sentsov started the hunger strike on May 14, demanding the Russian authorities to release 64 Ukrainian political prisoners. On May 29, the Ukrainian filmmaker agreed to supportive therapy.
Later, the European Parliament held flash mob in support of Oleg Sentsov. The event was attended by MEPs and delegates of the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the Council of Europe. Parliamentarians called for the release of the Ukrainian political prisoner.
