The Leninsky District Court of Minsk ruled to arrest Ruslan Tereshchenko, a Ukrainian citizen, who was detained by Belarusian law enforcers over participating in protest demonstrations on March 25, for 15 days, a correspondent of Radio Liberty reported from the scene.
At the moment, the Ukrainian Embassy in Belarus is trying to find out if there are other Ukrainians among the detainees.
Earlier, March 25, in Minsk at 12:00 local time, law enforcement officers detained two members of the CrimeaSOS organization Evgenia Andriyuk and Maria Kvitsinskaya, who fulfilled their duties within the international observation mission of the International Partnership for Human Rights.
Law enforcement officers blocked the mission members in the office of the Viasna organization, together with foreign journalists, local and foreign human rights activists. The total number of detainees in the room was 57 people. Later they were taken to the local police precinct, where they were held for some time. Human rights activists and journalists were released when a rally timed to coincide with the 99th anniversary of the proclamation of the Belarusian People's Republic ended in Minsk.
