At the entry and exit checkpoint Chongar at the entrance to the mainland Ukraine, the Security Forces of Ukraine SBU detained an accomplice to the Russian invaders of the Crimea, who was awarded with a medal and a letter of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for his illegal actions, the press service of the Ukrainian Security Forces reported on Facebook.
“Officers of the Main Directorate of the Security Service in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea detained a resident of the Kherson region, who in 2014 took an active part in the so-called "self-defense of the Crimea" and was involved in the illegal occupation of the peninsula by the Russian Federation.”
As part of the investigation, criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 1 of Art. 111 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code (High treason).
Earlier, February 7, Darnitskiy District Court of Kyiv started consideration of a criminal case against Maksim Odintsov, a former soldier from the Crimea, who joined the Russian army of occupation and was detained by the Ukrainian Security Forces SBU at the administrative border with the occupied peninsula last year.
