De-occupation of the annexed Crimea will follow the release of Ukrainian political prisoners, as well as the restoration of the territorial integrity.
Umerov, Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people,made a relevant statement during the briefing at Boryspil airport.
“The process will continue. De-occupation of the Crimea and restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine is destined to follow the liberation of individuals... All our struggle is aimed at this matter,” Umerov said.
Umerov also announced the introduction of amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine on the status of the Crimea.
“These decisions would be made already back at the home country (Ukraine),” he said.
Earlier, Deputy Chairmen of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People were met at the airport in Kyiv by Refat Chubarov, the Head of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people and Mustafa Dzhemilev, the Presidential Commissioner of Ukraine on Affairs of the Crimean Tatar People.
October 25, former political prisoners of the Kremlin, Akhtem Chiygoz and Ilmi Umerov, previously convicted in the occupied Crimea, were extradited to Turkey.
The flight of Chiygoz and Umerov was scheduled for the October 26th, but finally transferred for October 27th.
Umerov intends to return to the Crimea after several meetings in Kyiv.
