March 15, Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis Ilmi Umerov was summoned to the Investigative Committee for questioning in the preliminary investigation on the fabricated case against the lawyer Nikolai Polozov, who was illegally removed from the Umerov case and transferred from the status of the defender to the status of a witness.
“Today I was summoned to the Investigative Committee for a questioning in the preliminary investigation on the "case" against Polozov. The investigator was interested if Polozov provided me with legal assistance, and if we have an agreement on providing this assistance ... I explained that the agreement was signed in June 2016. He talked about several episodes, when Nikolai provided me with legal assistance as well," Ilmi Umerov wrote on his Facebook page.
He also pointed that representatives of the Russian law enforcement agencies who interrogated him, did not rise the issue about Nikolai Polozov calling Umerov in various legal statements in the FSB and the Prosecutor General's Office, a Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, an organization banned in the territory of the Russian Federation and in the occupied Crimea.
Earlier, in the preliminary investigation in the "Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Crimea", Nikolai Polozov gave explanations on the facts of his illegal forced drive to the FSB of the Russian Federation and illegal interrogation as a witness about the circumstances that he had learned after providing legal assistance to Ilmi Umerov.
