Today, November 5, executive committee of the World Congress of the Crimean Tatars is continuing its work.

The following issues are on the agenda : Increase in activity of Crimean Tatars diaspora living in Poland, Lithuania, Turkey and other countries; Restoration of the political, historical and social rights of the Crimean Tatars; Coordination of the Crimean Tatars public diplomacy institutions in Ukraine and in the world for the liberation of Crimea; Providing the public with information and increasing public support.

Considering the first question, the Chairman of the Lithuanian Tartar Communities Union Adas Jakubauskas noted that the Crimean Tatars in Lithuania have very friendly relations with the government. In particular, during the meeting with the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev, the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite have already expressed readiness to defend the interests of the Crimean Tatars to the world public. Therefore, according to Adas Jakubauskas, Crimean Tatars should use this support.

General Secretary of the World Congress of the Crimean Tatars, Head of the Turkish-Ukrainian Friendship Society, Deputy Head of the Society for the Crimean Tatars' Culture and Solidarity   Kemal Bayar Namık also noted the possibility of the Crimean Tatar culture development in Latin America. But as the Latin American diaspora of Crimean Tatars is not so numerous, Namık pointed out the need for cooperation with the Ukrainian diaspora.

Summing up the first part of the meeting, the Chairman of the Congress Refat Chubarov supported the proposals of other members of the executive committee of the need to strengthen ties between the diaspora of Crimean Tatars around the world.
“We have our memorable dates, like the Flag Day, on May 18, and others, when we need to show our solidarity, our strength,” he said.
Reference. The World Congress of the Crimean Tatars is the body, bringing together the Crimean Tatars living in their historic homeland, in Crimea, and in the Diasporas (Turkey, Romania, Poland, USA, Canada, Lithuania, Western Europe and Central Asia).

The first session of the World Congress of the Crimean Tatars attended by 420 delegates from 13 countries was held in Simferopol/Aqmescite on May 9, 2009. Refat Chubarov was then elected Chairman of the meeting.

The second meeting, which was attended by 180 members of the Crimean Tatar public organizations from 12 countries, as well as authorized representatives of government circles, public organizations and the media, was held in Ankara on August 1-2, 2015. The meeting then adopted the decision to establish the international public organization the "World Congress of the Crimean Tatars" in order to achieve international support for the national self-government bodies of the Crimean Tatar people. The meeting re-elected Refat Chubarov as the Chairman of the WCCT as well as the members of the Executive Committee of the Congress, which included 21 representatives and members of the Audit Commission.

Three meetings of the Executive Committee were held in Romania and Ukraine (in Kyiv and in the village of Chongar, Kherson region), the fourth session was held in Vilnius (Lithuania) on April 11-13, 2016, and the fifth meeting of the WCCT Executive Committee took place in the Turkish city of Eskisehir on July 29 - 31, 2016.
