In total, 1858 people suffered in land-mine incidents in the area of the Joined Force Operation in Donbas, as of August 1, 2018. About 400 of the victims died, the Head of the Department of Ecological Safety and Mine Action of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Colonel Maksim Komisarov informed during the briefing.
According to him, the 400 killed victims include 21 children. The official further noted, that in 2014 the statistics of the killed and injured was not recorded.
“As of August 1, the total of 1858 people were affected by the mines, of which about 400 people were killed. The victims include 102 children, 21 of which died,” Komisarov said.
Earlier, the Head of the United Nations Monitoring Mission on Human Rights in Ukraine, Fiona Frazer, said that since the beginning of hostilities in the Donbas, 2,725 civilians were killed, including about 140 children. At the same time, during the war years in eastern Ukraine about 7-9 thousand civilians were wounded.
