KYIV (QHA) -

The "Back to school" ceasefire was violated dozens of times, barely started. Thus, from midnight to 9 am on August 29, the OSCE SMM recorded more than 70 cases of firing in the conflict zone n Donbas.

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine reported on the situation on Twitter referring to the Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Alexander Hug, who is currently in the conflict zone in the Donbas.

The SMM urged the parties to stop firing immediately, so as not to endanger the civilian population.

“OSCE SMM Alexander Hug: “Since 00:01 SMM registered more than 70 ceasefire violations. Sides need to honour their recommitment. Firing has to stop now. To protect Ukrainians on both sides of the contact line.”

SMM does not specify in which areas the shelling took place and which side of the conflict violates the ceasefire.

Reference: The Trilateral Contact Group with the participation of the representatives of ORDLO announced another indefinite ceasefire in connection with the beginning of the academic year, starting from midnight on August 29, 2018. Over the past three years, this is the 14th ceasefire. The previous, "Harvest" truce, was announced on July 1 this year in connection with the beginning of the reaping. However, already in the first ten days of August, Alexander Hug stated that, after a relative calm in the first weeks, it actually came to naught, like all the previous announced ceasefire.
