Hryhoriy Nemyria, the Chairman of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, National minorities and Inter-Ethnic Relations stated that 10 thousand people were killed over the 4 years of Anti Terrorist Operation in Donbas.
“According to the United Nations, during the four years of the conflict in the East of Ukraine, about 10,000 people were killed and 30,000 were wounded. According to various sources, from 500 to 1,500 are considered missing. The losses are increasing not only among the military, but also among the civilian population now. This is particularly true for children and victims of mine explosions,” Nemyria said.
He further noted that the Minsk process and the Normandy format do not bring results for achieving a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
Earlier, Iryna Herashchenko, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, discussed with the representatives of US Department of State and US Defense Department the issue of releasing the hostages and political prisoners of the Kremlin, as well as the violation of human rights in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
