Failure to comply with the Minsk agreements in 2018 will mean that the fighting along the front line in Donbas will continue. The Russian Federation violence escalation is also possible, the source stated, citing the report by Lieutenant General Vincent R. Stewart, Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency that he presented to the US Senate Armed Services Committee.
“The conflict between Russian-backed separatists and the Ukrainian government in the east Ukraine is likely to continue over the next year, while hopes for full implementation of the Minsk agreements are clouded”, the statement stressed.
Vincent Stewart noted that the Russian Federation “is unlikely to give up destabilizing actions in the Donbas”, although “violence along the confrontation line is likely to remain limited to the small battles”.
Earlier QHA reported, that so-called “law enforcement bodies” in the occupied Donetsk and Luhansk attempt to prevent the departure of military age young people to the Ukraine-controlled territories.
