Over 5,000 artillerymen were deployed to 19 polygons of the Southern Military District of Russia in the occupied Crimea, Rostov, Volgograd regions, Krasnodar and Stavropol Krais of the Russian Federation, in Dagestan, North Ossetia, as well as in the territories of Russian military bases in Abkhazia, Armenia and South Ossetia, the Russian media reported by with reference to the Head of the press service of Southern Military District of Russia Colonel Vadim Astafiev.
"Within a month, rocket and artillery troops will hone their professional skills, conduct combat coordination of platoons, squadron and divisions, master new forms and methods of performing fire missions to support motorized rifle and tank units in the complex situation of modern combined arms combat. Particular attention will be paid to training in the system of reconnaissance fire and reconnaissance and strike circuits," the source quoted the Head of the press service.
Reportedly, the training will be held to control the artillery fire of the formations and forces with live firing from the multiple-launch rocket systems Tornado-G, Uragan, Smerch, 152 mm 2C19 Msta-C and 2S3 Akatsiya howitzers, 122-mm SAU 2S1 "Gvozdika", self-propelled artillery pieces 2C9 "Nona," and unmanned aerial vehicle complexes will be used for the correction of artillery fire.
It is further noted that the occupants intend to conduct more than 100 tactical exercises with live fire, and about 40 control sessions of shooting and divisions fire control.
