Russia is capable of blocking the Azov Sea for any Ukrainian ship in minutes, said the Russian senator, member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Franz Klintsevich, commenting on the detention of 15 ships by the State Border Service of Ukraine for illegal calls to the Crimean ports.

Klintsevich called the detention of the vessels by the State Border Service of Ukraine an "obvious lawlessness".

He said that it is Ukraine who "actually breaks the agreement on the Sea of Azov", and threatened that "it will only suffer from this."

“Yes, we are capable of blocking the Sea of Azov for any Ukrainian flotation device literally in minutes. And I don't exclude that such actions may follow,” Klintsevich noted.

Earlier, the State Border Service of Ukraine stated that to have detained 15 vessels for calling at the ports of the occupied Crimea.

The detained vessels are located in the ports of Berdyansk and Mariupol. Some of them have been arrested, and trials are underway on the other part.

The department noted that in total, about 940 offender vessels are under attention of the border guards, most of which serve the occupied ports.
Speaker of the State Border Service of Ukraine Oleh Slobodian said that Ukraine will respond adequately to the challenges of Russia in the Sea of Azov and will continue to detain vessels in the Sea of Azov.

According to him, the Kerch Strait is actually controlled by the Russian Federation, and therefore the actions of Ukraine correspond to the situation.
