The military-political situation on the borders of Russia and NATO is tense and may even further worsen, according to the statement of the Defense Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu.

“The intensity and scope of the operational-combat training events of the armed forces of the bloc's member countries near our borders are growing. Over the past three months, more than 30 exercises have been held on the territory of Eastern Europe and the Baltic States," he said.

Shoigu noted that four multinational NATO battalions with a total of up to five thousand people were deployed in the Baltic countries and Poland. Moreover, an armored brigade and an army aviation brigade of American troops are deployed in Poland and Germany. The US continues the deployment of missile defense elements.

Shoigu also believes that during the last years of NATO's exercises bear "an open anti-Russian character."

Earlier, Russia conducted exercises of the Marine Corps of the Black Sea Fleet in the occupied Crimea.

Reportedly, the servicemen worked out the defense of the equipment column against air strikes, as well as neutralizing the subversive and reconnaissance groups of the conventional enemy.
