The explosion took place on November 4, in a former Syrian Criminal Police building on the Damascus-Deir-ez-Zor Road, Novaya Gazeta publication writes, referring to a source in Syria.

As a result of the explosion, 11 people died, five of which were soldiers of the Syrian Government Army, and six were militants from the Russian private military company Wagner.

The source noted that the unit of the Syrian Government Army is at the blast site.

Novaya Gazeta informed that it has sent a request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. It should be noted that the Russian authorities do not officially recognize the presence of PMC Wagner mercenaries in Syria.
In early September, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced the names of Russian mercenaries of the Wagner WCP, who were killed or wounded in Syria.

In July, the SBU claimed that it had received information about 80 dead mercenaries in Syria.
