The US Congress imposed a ban on military cooperation between the US Department of Defense and the Russian Ministry of Defense, according to the report of the Committee of the US Congress, published on the Committee website.
The ban was introduced as part of the harmonization of the draft budget of the country for 2019.
The report notes that military cooperation between the US and Russia will be banned, except for certain orders of the Head of the US Department of Defense or other "insurmountable circumstances."
"The restrictions do not concern the contacts of the military personnel of the two countries aimed at reducing the risk of an armed clash," reads the report.
Earlier, the US Senate submitted a draft resolution, which states that the country condemns Russia's illegal attempts to occupy the Crimea. The document noted that Crimea is part of the territory of Ukraine. The senators urged the US to continue to apply sanctions measures against the Russian Federation.
