January 7, the long-range US drone RQ-4A Global Hawk and the naval reconnaissance aircraft P-8A Poseidon carried out a large-scale reconnaissance operation covering the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea and line of demarcation in the Donbas.
The US Strategic Unmanned Aircraft RQ-4A Global Hawk with the number 12-2050, conducted aerial reconnaissance along the line of demarcation in the Donbas, and then followed along the entire coastline of the Crimea for several hours.
Meanwhile, the patrol anti-submarine aircraft of the US Navy P-8A Poseidon with the number 168432 and the call sign PS076, which departed from the Sigonella air-base (Sicily), was recorded near Sevastopol. Reportedly, it flew over the west and south parts of the annexed peninsula.
At the moment there is no official confirmation from the authorities of the mainland Ukraine, annexed Crimea or Russia.
Earlier, QHA reported that on December 29 near Kurdiumivka (Donetsk region), servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down the Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Orlan-10.
Previously, according to the reports, Orlan-10, Russian UAV fell down near Novohrodivka in the Donetsk region in the rear area of the anti-terrorist operation zone. The UAV was developed by a Russian company Special Technology Center. The hull and engine of the UAV are of Russian manufacture, electronic systems are supplied from Taiwan.
