Ukrainian diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are working to create an international mechanism for the deoccupation of the Crimea, Political Director of Directorate General for Policy Oleksii Makeiev reported, according to Ukrayinska Pravda. 

“We are building the mechanism of Crimea deoccupation, due to the available tools on various international platforms. Last year a very powerful resolution of the UN General Assembly on the situation in the field of human rights was adopted. This issue is proceeding on the Council of Europe platform. We seek this mechanism to be created, although, of course, today Normandy and Minsk formats are on everyone’s lips in order to stop the bloody war that Russia is waging in Donbas”.

According to Makeiev, sanctions remain oine of the most effective means of applying pressure on Russia available to supporters of

“The sanctions policy along with the policy of isolation and international political pressure are those non-military instruments that would force Russia to stop the aggression against Ukraine”.

Earlier QHA reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expected that European Union sanctions against Russia would be extended until the deoccupation of Crimea and Donbas.
