In Cherkasy National University named after Bogdan Khmelnytsky on May 12, the second round table "Crimea and Ukraine: history, present, perspective" was held. The event was dedicated to commemorating the victims of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars in 1944, according to the QHA correspondent.

Reports on outstanding representatives of the Crimean Tatar people, including Noman Chelebidzhikhan, dissident Yuri Osmanov, poet and scholar Yunus Kandymov, Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, as well as the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest Jamala, were presented at the meeting.

Presented topics: Military-political union of Bogdan Khmelnitsky with Islam-Girey III; Crimea in the system of international relations, late 19th - early 20th century; Parallels of the Crimean Tatar revolution of 1917-1918 and revolution in Ukraine of 1917-1921; Kurultai of Noman Chelebidzhikhan and the world's first Muslim republic; Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people: History and present; Mapping of the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people in modern cinematography.
Reports were read out by doctors and candidates of historical sciences.

Also a member of the Mejlis and an activist of the Crimean Tatar national movement Sinaver Kadyrov presented the report "The situation of the Crimean Tatar people in the conditions of the Russian occupation and their struggle rights and for de-occupation of Crimea".

The event was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
