Another Crimean Tatar activist was detained in Crimea on the issue of Feb 26 mass demonstration which took place on Feb 26, 2014, when thousands of Crimean Tatars rallied at the Crimean Parliament showing their support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

Asan Charukhov, 29, was detained March 6 while working in Kerch hospital. He will be released after a questioning, according to police officers.

To recall, the pro-Ukrainian rally was held under Ukrainian legislation and Ukrainian rule, weeks before Crimean referendum and the region’s unification with Russia.

Crimean organization ‘Russian Unity’, headed by Crimean head Sergey Aksyonov organized a counter-demonstration at the same time and place, presented as victims of violence.

The events came a day before Russian soldiers seized control of Crimean Parliament.
