Kremlin-controlled Simferopol Kyiv District Court sentenced Aleksei Stogniy, a citizen of Ukraine, to 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment on July 17, 2017, the Crimean Human Rights group reports.

According to the source, the resident of Sevastopol was convicted under part 1 of Art. 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, its main parts, ammunition) and part 1 of Art. 223 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Illegal manufacture, alteration or repair of firearms and ammunition).

The defendant of the so-called “case of Ukrainian saboteurs” Aleksei Stogniy was convicted on the criminal articles which have nothing to do with espionage and sabotage, in which the FSB initially accused the Ukrainian.

Reportedly, in November 2016, "Russia-1" TV channel showed a video with mock interrogation where Aleksei Stogniy was giving so-called “confessions” in espionage in favor of Ukraine.
