(QHA) -

Ukraine and the Russian Federation have signed a contract on electric power transit to Crimea, head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov announced.

“The contract will guarantee uninterrupted electric power supply to Crimea from Ukraine,” Aksyonov said, adding that the contract terms would be fulfilled in full.

“Now no power cuts are being planned. Payments to Ukraine are made in full,” Aksyonov noted.

Ukraine was experiencing problems with power generation due to coal shortages. After a military operation was launched by Kiev forces in mid-April against independence supporters in eastern Ukraine, Kiev lost access to many coal mines located in the region.
