The Sumy border guards managed to halt a car with gunpowder for rifles at its departure from Russia.

“When monitoring the state border section (between Ukrainian village of Malushino and Russian village of Dronovka) the border guards of ‘Nova Sloboda’ Sumy border detachment detected the traces of vehicle entering Ukraine,” says a statement published on the website of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

According to the statement, having noticed Volkswagen car, the border guards began to chase it, but the driver ignored their demand to stop.

“The driver, 33, is a Ukrainian citizen and resident of Sumy region. During the inspection, 8 boxes embracing plastic containers with gunpowder for rifles were revealed. A total of 110 containers with gunpowder weighting 167 kg have been found in the vehicle,” says the statement.

All material was seized by enforcement authorities and administrative reports were drawn up under Part 1, Art. 201-1, Art. 185-10ч of the Ukrainian Code of Administrative Offences.
