(QHA) -

Crimean authorities will help Religious Administration of Muslims of Crimea (Muftiyat) to take control over Khan-Cami mosque in Yevpatoria.

Head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov announced this on the air of Crimean ATR Channel.

The statement comes as the community of Khan-Cami mosque announced earlier in Sept that the mosque, which used to be subordinated toCrimea’s traditional Religious Administration of Muslims (Muftiyat), would be included in newly established Taurida Muftiyat-- an organization founded in contrast to Crimean Muftiyat.

“We are ready to help and insure legal measures to Muftiyat to restore the control over Khan-Cami mosque. The authorities are on the side of the law. Taking into account that the mosque is subordinated to Crimea Muftiyat, the organization is the one to dispose of the property of the mosque and perform religious exercises there”- Aksyonov said.

Aksyonov also noted, that the issue was discussed with Crimean Mufti Emirali Ablaev, emphasizing that Crimean Muftiyat is the most authoritative unity of Crimean Muslims.

“The only legal and authoritative body that serves to promote worship of Islam in Crimea is Crimean Muftiyat”- he said.
