EU Ambassador to Ukraine Jan Tombinski said that the decision of Crimean Parliament on accession of Crimea to Russia is illegitimate.  According to Ukrainian constitution, the fate of Crimea can only be determined by a nation-wide, all-Ukrainian referendum, informs Radio Liberty.

According to Tombinski, the Parliament’s decision violates the Constitution of Ukraine.

The Ambassador also noted that EU Council of Ministers in Brussels is considering the Crimean crisis today, but so far there is no information about the outcome.

As reported, today, the Crimean Parliament voted for the accession of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea to the Russian Federation and scheduled an all-Crimean referendum for March 16.
