Within the framework of the visit to the Republic of Turkey on July 4, the meeting was held between the Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for the Affairs of Crimean Tatars, People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Mustafa Dzhemilev and the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to the report on the official website of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
During the meeting, Mustafa Dzhemilev told the President of Turkey about the current situation with human rights in the occupied Crimea, about the persecution of Crimean Tatars and other citizens of Ukraine who oppose the illegal annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula by the Russian Federation.
Mustafa-aga also noted the need for the immediate release of all political prisoners of the Kremlin and the lifting of ban on entry to Crimea for representatives of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
Separately, Dzhemilev stressed positive changes in ensuring the rights of the Crimean Tatar people in Ukraine, noting the initiative of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to develop amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine regarding the status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
In turn, the Head of the Turkish Republic Recep Erdogan warmly received Mustafa Dzhemilev and conveyed assurances in the unconditional support of Turkey to the Crimean Tatar people.
Erdogan noted the firmness of his position regarding the inviolability of the territorial integrity of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders.
The President added that the Turkish authorities do not allow entering to the Crimean ports by Turkish courts, and confirmed their readiness to support the initiative of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people to build a central mosque in Kyiv that would symbolize the unity of the Muslims of Ukraine.
Mustafa-aga thanked the Turkish President for his support and noted the importance of the unequivocal position of the Turkish state regarding the non-recognition of the illegal annexation of the Crimea for the Crimean Tatars, as well as the inadmissibility of attempts to legitimize the illegal annexation by Russia.
