The European Union supports the US position on the non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea by Russia, the EU representative said today, on July 26.
“Crimea Declaration” reflects a strong and principled stand of the U.S. concerning Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopil and the violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine”
The EU stressed that they do not recognize and condemn the occupation of the Crimea.
"We still support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and we are fully introducing our non-recognition policy, in particular by the restrictive measures. This violation of the international law is a direct defiance of the international security which has serious consequences for the international order, which protects the unity and sovereignty of all states.”
QHA reported that Great Britain, Germany and Poland supported the declaration of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on the non-recognition of the annexation of the Crimea.

After the declaration was published, leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev met with the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Wess Mitchell. The parties discussed the declaration of Mike Pompeo. Mustafa Dzhemilev spoke about the violation of human rights on the annexed peninsula and called on the international community to "do more” in this matter.
