The United States will not recognize the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, said US Secretary of State John Kerry during his meeting with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on Thursday, July 7, according to a QHA correspondent.

“The US does not recognize the annexation of Crimea. And it will so be until the end,” said Kerry.

The politician also noted that sanctions against Russia will be lifted only after de-escalation of the conflict in Donbas and de-occupation of Crimea.

"If Russia chooses the path of de-escalation, Europe will greet it. If not, the sanctions will remain,” Kerry added.

Russia occupied Crimea in 2014. Ukrainian Parliament recognized February, 20 2014 an official start date of the annexation of the peninsula.
