The Prosecutor of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office Nazar Kholodnytsky said that Crimea, unfortunately, has become an island of freedom for criminals and corrupt officials, attracting all social outcasts. He voiced this on the air of "112 Ukraine" TV channel.
"Now, unfortunately, Ukrainian legislation on the peninsula is not observed for objective reasons, beyond our control. Therefore, the Crimea has become a kind of island of freedom for criminals and corrupt officials. As for Russia - it is such a big continent for all social outcasts," Kholodnytsky said.
The Anti-corruption Prosecutor noted that a lot of criminals being on wanted list in Ukraine have hidden in Crimea. In particular, the judge of the Kyiv Dnieper district court, Nikolai Chaus, accused of bribery.
