Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian president, commented on the non-admission of Lyudmila Denisova, the Ukrainian Parliament's Commissioner on Human rights, to Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov.

To the question why Denisova was not allowed to Sentsov, he said:

“I cannot answer this question. This topic is led by my colleague Moskalkova, she is in contact with Ukrainian counterparts in this regard. We hope to receive detailed information," he said.

Peskov further noted that Sentsov was allegedly not a "detained person" and was convicted on "rather heavy article".

"As for Sentsov, in any case, of course, he cannot be considered a detained person, because he is a convict, and under a rather heavy article."

In turn, Russian ombudsman Tatiana Moskalkova stated that Denisova is in the Yamal-Nenets District illegally.

“Denisova is on Yamal in violation of Russian law, and requires admission to a Russian citizen. Having received the expected negative response, she asked for help in obtaining confirmation of the state of health of this man - Sentsov.”

Previously, human rights commissioners of Ukraine and Russia agreed to visit 34 prisoners on the territories of both countries.
