Reconsideration of borders contradicts the international law. The position of France is clear and unalterable: Like the European Union and the entire international community, France does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea. So the initiative of some MPs and their statements have nothing to do with the French government, said Alexandre Georgini at a briefing on Monday, RIA Crimea reports.

July 29, a group of 11 French MPs, headed by ex-Minister of Transport Thierry Mariani, arrived in the occupied Crimea, where they met with representatives of the occupation authorities of the peninsula and the city of Sevastopol, and also participated in celebration of the Russian Federation Navy Day.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has condemned such actions of the French politicians who, as stated in the department’s application, "demonstratively violated Ukrainian legislation and international law," and expressed "conscious support of Russia's aggression against Ukraine." Reportedly, French delegates last visited the Crimea a year ago.

Ukrainian delegation in PACE criticized the Assembly for another visit of its delegate Mariani to the Ukrainian peninsula. The statement stressed that "since a similar visit of the three French PACE representatives to Crimea a year ago the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council Of Europe has not been able to establish rules that would regulate the respect for international and national legislation on the part of the PACE delegates."
