The Forty-Ninth General Assembly of Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) is held in Istanbul upon the invitation of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (Parliament) on 4-6 July 2017, the press service of the organization reports.

Parliamentary delegations of Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine attending the Istanbul Session.

The issues on the agenda include the role of parliaments in ensuring peace and security in the Black Sea region, development of new and renewable sources of energy, strengthening the legislative framework for economic growth and social integration, and the role of the parliaments in providing sustainable health care systems in the BSEC member states.

The chairmanship of the PABSEC for the next six months will be officially handed over to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at the end of the plenary session in Istanbul. The next General Assembly will be held in Kyiv on November 28-30, 2017.

The development of economic cooperation in the context of the security crisis in the Black Sea region will be the key issue during the period of Ukraine's BSEC chairmanship from July 1 to December 1, 2017, according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin.
