Spanish government has been accused of provocative behavior, after it allowed Novorissiysk, Russian submarine being headed to Crimea, to refuel at Cueta port.

Military experts were quick to condemn the 3-day visit of the Russian submarine to Ceuta port calling this incident as ‘another example of lack of determination in Europe to resist Russian aggression in Ukraine’.

Just a reminder: the Ceuta port is often called as Spanish Gibraltar since it is located on the coast of Africa, an overseas territory on the opposite side of the bay.

The Independent considers the incident as an attempt to ‘intimidate the Gibraltarian people’ and emphasizes that it has not been the first provocation by Spain in Gibraltar region for recent weeks.
