The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said in a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry that FETÖ terrorist organization led by Fetullah Gülen living in Pennsylvania, USA, is guilty of murder of Russian Ambassador Andrei Karlov. He noted that this information is known both in Turkey and Russia, according to Anadolu agency.

Later at a press briefing, U.S. State Department spokesman John Kirby expressed concern about accusations at the United States of the ambassador's murder.

“We are concerned about allegations that the United States was involved in the assassination of the Russian ambassador or supported the killing only because of the fact that Gülen is currently living in the United States. This accusation is absurd. There is nothing that would prove the truth of these allegations,” said Kirby.

On December 19, the Russian ambassador in Turkey Andrei Karlov was assassinated during his speech at the opening of the gallery at the Contemporary Art Center. The terrorist, who was standing behind the ambassador, first opened fire in the air and then shot him in the back. After a while the room was empty, and the attacker again fired at the Russian diplomat. Later Karlov died in hospital.
