Ukraine is ready to compromise for the release of political prisoners, the First Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Irina Gerashchenko reported on her Facebook page.

"We are ready for a compromise in the matter of the detainees, in order to free everyone the fastest. The Ukrainian side is ready to work actively so that the next wave of liberation is held as soon as possible," she wrote.

Gerashchenko noted that she had held telephone talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin following the results of the meeting in the Normandy format.

“For the first time during a meeting in the Normandy format, the issue of releasing hostages and political prisoners took an hour and a half, for the first time the initiative of admitting the ombudsman to detainees in Russia and Ukraine was discussed. They talked about the number of detainees, and about the specific names and fates of people," she said.

According to her, the meeting also discussed the issue of searching for missing persons and admission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to the occupied territories.

Earlier, Irina Gerashchenko noted that Ukraine is ready to transfer 23 citizens of the Russian Federation who are serving a sentence for serious crimes against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in exchange for Ukrainian hostages. According to her, it is necessary to pressure Putin to release the hostages before the World Cup.
