Ilmi Umerov, Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, noted the necessity to inform the world community about what is happening in the occupied Crimea. He made a corresponding statement at the official opening of the office of the Ukrainian Union in Ankara with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Pavlo Klimkin, the correspondent of QHA reports.
“We can inform the world community about what is happening in the Crimea: even in matters of repression, even in matters of deoccupation, even in matters of the destruction of cultural heritage. For example, we keep telling about destruction of the Khan Palace so that as many people in the world as possible knew what really happens in the Crimea," Ilmi Umerov said.
The Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people stressed that if we do not negotiate on the situation on the annexed peninsula, then there is a possibility that the repressions will continue "even more rudely, sharper and even faster."
Ilmi Umerov said that at the opening of the office of the Ukrainian union in Ankara, with the participation of the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, questions were raised about the problems of the occupied Crimea, the Crimean Tatars, and the Khan Palace, which, because of the "restoration" by the invaders, may lose its historical appeal.
“Hope that, after listening to information about the situation in the Crimea, the leaders of many countries will behave more actively in matters relating to the Russian Federation: they will expand sanctions until they become really effective.”
Expansion of sanctions is necessary "for them to understand that the whole world is watching, watching and knowing about their atrocities, and to make them give up some of their intentions," the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis stated.
