Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk expects the country to benefit from the today’s elections. According to him, the local elections will help improve schools, roads and hospitals.

Yatsenyuk also urged to use funds of the local budgets wisely, saying that the government gave regional administrations control over billions of hryvnas in their budgets.

“Voting under the newly approved law requires members of election committees to do their job professionally, while those responsible for monitoring the election process need to be honest and ensure transparency and rigorous control. The most important thing now is vote count, so these elections are as honest and transparent as the last year’s presidential and parliamentary elections were,” said Yatsenyuk commenting on the local elections.
